What is this?

Nestled on an island of sand and pines on the North Shore of Virginia beach, within steps of a tidal creek, 15 minutes paddle from the lower Chesapeake Bay, and 20 minutes more from the open ocean, we have built the structure that not only shelters our longboats and boards but is intended to serve as workshop, beer hall, temple to the downwind, and shrine to hull form. At times it may showcase a new accessory, finish, carbon fiber bit, or craft that we offer for sale. On other occasions it may host out of town friends for a near by race or just locals sharing laughs, memories and ideas. This boathouse and this website both have been created in the same spirit: as a celebration of a unique time and place when open ocean paddling -- both racing and especially free riding -- is breaking through into North American paddling consciousness. Our goal is to provide a steady flow of both literal and figurative stoke that will inspire and aid the dedicated ocean athlete in his or her quest to ride downwind...
